We moved into our home in September of 1998. The first renovation project that we embarked
on was peeling away of old wall paper in the kitchen and re-surfacing the walls with stucco. We loved our project
so much that we extended the work into the living room, dining room, and den and that involved peeling away old
paint and paneling and actually putting up new and thicker dry wall in many areas. We even hung new
dry wall in the hallway before adding the stucco and paint. Eventually we replaced the rugs with saltillo tile,
added ponderosa pine rough-cut beams and corbels and split, peeled ponderosa pine vigas from New Mexico.
Since then, we've replaced all of the exterior doors, refinished the porch with peeled juniper logs, enclosed the basement
with a frame and door (at the bottom of the stairs), stained all of the interior doors, added a 'bit more insulation, replaced
the water heater, garbage disposal, dishwasher, kitchen sink fixtures, and even the bathroom toilet. We've even had
some electricity work to accommodate our technology vices and had the house wired for satellite TV and wireless internet.
Outside, we've replaced many parts of the well, the pool filter, enclosed four horse paddocks, extended
a privacy fence between our not-so-close neighbors, replaced the decrepid wood fence around the pool with a juniper stay fence
(Texas hill country style) and just recently finished a 100' x 70' welded pipe and net-wire paddock and included an
all metal shelter for a baby foal that we were expecting this spring.
This is a real southwestern "traditional" home with adobe construction and heavy
wood accents, 13 huge acres, mature pecan trees, horse facilitites and appurtenant out-buildings.
All summed up, our interior and exterior renovations have totaled almost $45,000 and
which will increase after the completion of the new cool windows.
We've love our home. We especially enjoy sitting outside while stoking up the
grill on the massive built-in bar-b-que pit and watching our child chase after a horny toad or imitate a distant quail call.
This home has personality and needs caring tenants to help maintain its graciousness.
If you're up for the responsibility, please give us a call.
Thanks!
